US President, Donald Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk are expected to speak privately, following a public clash that turned into an open feud.
A White House official confirmed the call which is arranged at the urging of Donald Trump’s aides, who have been working behind the scenes to defuse tensions between the two, the New York Post reported.
The planned call comes as Donald Trump attempted to downplay the fallout telling Politico, “Oh, it’s okay. It’s going very well- never done better.”
The US President even touted his ratings, saying, “The numbers are through the roof, the highest polls I’ve ever had and I have to go.”
Their feud escalated after Donald Trump publicly criticized Elon Musk during a White House press briefing over slamming a tax bill.
The remarks came as Donald Trump endorsed a new bill that could significantly impact electric vehicle manufacturers—including Elon Musk’s company Tesla.
“Elon and I had a great relationship. I don’t know if we will anymore,” Donald Trump said, adding, “He hasn’t said bad about me personally, but I’m sure that’ll be next.”
Elon Musk, who has become increasingly vocal in his criticism of Donald Trump’s policy proposals, issued a sharp rebuttal on social media, posting on X (formerly Twitter), “Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House, and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate… Such ingratitude.”
He then went on to publicly endorse the idea that Donald Trump should be impeached and replaced by Vice President JD Vance. The Tesla boss alleged that Donald Trump is named in the sealed Epstein files- suggesting that’s the reason they haven’t been released.
He wrote, “Time to drop the really big bomb: Donald Trump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!”
Elon Musk followed the post with, “Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out.”
