The ancient town of Owo, Ondo State, witnessed a gathering of dignitaries from all walks of life as they converged to pay their final respects to the late former Governor of Ondo State, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu. His Excellency, The Senator Otunba Engr. Gbenga Daniel, FNSE, FAEng, was among those present at the burial ceremony, held on Friday, February 23, 2024.
Mr. Akeredolu, who passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, after battling a prolonged illness in a German hospital, was honored with a funeral service at the St. Andrew’s Cathedral Anglican Church, Imola, Owo.
Vice President Kashim Shettima was among the prominent dignitaries in attendance at the church service, which marked the final farewell to the late former governor. Following the funeral service, Mr. Akeredolu was laid to rest at the burial site in the community, amidst heartfelt tributes and fond memories shared by those who knew him.
