Texas artist Charley Crockett has said that popular singer Beyoncé belongs in country music.
He recently blasted critics of her “Cowboy Carter” album, and fans have been reacting.
Speaking via his Instagram page, Charley accused the industry of hiding behind double standards.
According to him, if some country artists have admitted to borrowing inspiration from Hip-Hop and Pop at some point, there’s nothing wrong with Beyoncé delving into the country music genre as well.
Listing Beyonce’s accomplishments as a musician, he highlighted how she managed to become the first Black woman to win Best Country Album at the Grammys in 2025 while still being overlooked by the Academy of Country Music Awards.
“Hey country folks. Beyoncé ain’t the source of your discontent. It was 25 years of bro country.
Number 1 country artist on earth listens to nothing but rap Openly says he doesn’t really know any country music. Gotta respect his honesty. These ‘country boys’ been singing over trap beats for years. So what’s different now? Authenticity.

Crockett further noted that he once battled music executives trying to mould him into a prefabricated star, so he feels Beyoncé’s pain.
He concluded by saying that he’ll never have to criticize a black woman’s creativity just to promote his own music.
“Many of those business folks called me early on. They had whole albums pre-written and recorded, ready to just plug me in. I have receipts.
I don’t need to put down a black woman to advance my music. That’s just embarrassing to the idea of America and I got no respect for it,” he added.
