Nigeria’s Super Falcons have received a major boost ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after the arrival of Deborah Abiodun and Gift Monday at the team’s training camp in Casablanca, Morocco.
The duo joined the squad at the Marriott Hotel, giving head coach Justine Madugu access to all 25 invited players as preparations intensify ahead of the continental tournament.
Abiodun and Monday were originally expected to arrive earlier in the week but were delayed after their flight from the United States was cancelled, forcing them to miss the team’s final pre-tournament friendly.
Their absence was felt during Nigeria’s 2-1 victory over Tanzania’s Twiga Stars on Thursday, a match that served as the Super Falcons’ last warm-up before the championship.
Abiodun was part of Nigeria’s squad at the previous WAFCON tournament, while Monday narrowly missed out on selection for that edition.
With the squad now complete, the Super Falcons are scheduled to travel from Casablanca to Rabat on Friday, where they will play all their Group C matches.
The defending African champions will open their title defence against Malawi on Tuesday, July 28, before taking on Zambia and Egypt in their remaining group-stage fixtures.
The 2026 WAFCON tournament officially begins on Sunday, July 26. Hosts Morocco will face Kenya in the opening night fixture after Algeria take on Senegal in the tournament’s first match.
