Nigeria’s Super Falcons have alleged that several players were robbed while staying at a hotel in Casablanca, Morocco, ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
According to the players, cash kept in their purses disappeared while they were away from their hotel rooms. Those affected reportedly include team captain Rasheedat Ajibade, Esther Okoronkwo, Osinachi Ohale, Joy Omewa, and Halimatu Ayinde.
The players claimed the missing amounts ranged from $100 to $700, raising concerns about security at the hotel where the team is lodged.
In a video circulating online, the players expressed frustration over the incident, stating that they immediately reported the matter to the hotel management. However, they alleged that the response from the authorities was disappointing.
According to the players, the hotel staff appeared unsurprised by the complaints, giving them the impression that such incidents were not uncommon. They also claimed that some members of the management became hostile after they raised the issue.
The players said they received no satisfactory explanation regarding the missing money and expressed disappointment over how the situation was handled.
Following the incident, they urged other visitors to avoid staying at the hotel, describing it as an unsafe place for guests.
The Super Falcons are currently in Morocco for the 2026 WAFCON tournament and are scheduled to begin their campaign against Malawi on Tuesday.
A video showing the players recounting the alleged theft has continued to circulate on social media, drawing widespread reactions from football fans.
