President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will undertake a state visit to the United Kingdom in March 2026, following an invitation from His Majesty The King, marking the first such visit by a Nigerian head of state in nearly four decades.
The two-day visit, scheduled for March 18-19, 2026, was confirmed Sunday through announcements by both the UK Government’s official account in Nigeria and the Royal Family on X.
President Tinubu will be joined by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, with King Charles III and Queen Camilla hosting the Nigerian delegation at Windsor Castle.
“President @officialABAT has accepted His Majesty The King’s invitation to undertake a State Visit to the UK in March—the first by a Nigerian leader since 1989,” the UK mission in Nigeria posted.
The diplomatic engagement represents what the UK mission described as “an opportunity to further strengthen the enduring partnership between our two nations.”
The Royal Family’s official statement echoed the announcement, confirming that Their Majesties would receive the Nigerian President and First Lady at the historic royal residence for the duration of the state visit.
