President Bola Tinubu has officially inaugurated Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as the Minister of Power and Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
The swearing-in ceremony took place on Monday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja and was attended by senior government officials, family members of the appointees, and other invited guests.
The appointments followed recent changes within the Federal Executive Council after former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, stepped down from their positions to pursue governorship ambitions in their respective states.
To fill the vacancies created by their resignations, President Tinubu nominated Tegbe and Enikanolaiye for the ministerial roles. Both nominees were subsequently screened and confirmed by the Senate on May 6, 2026, paving the way for their formal assumption of office.
Tegbe, an indigene of Ibadan in Oyo State, brings over three decades of experience in economic management, public sector reform, institutional development, and strategic leadership. Throughout his more than 35-year career, he has worked across both the public and private sectors, earning recognition for his expertise in policy implementation, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement.
Enikanolaiye, who hails from Igbagun in Kogi State, has built a distinguished career in diplomacy and international relations. He graduated with a First Class degree in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he emerged as the best graduating student in his faculty. He later obtained a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos, graduating with distinction.
Before his appointment as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Enikanolaiye served as Senior Special Assistant to President Tinubu on Foreign Affairs and International Relations in the Office of the Chief of Staff.
His diplomatic career has seen him represent Nigeria in several countries and international missions. He served in diplomatic postings in Ethiopia, Serbia, Canada, and the United Kingdom, and also held the position of Nigeria’s Head of Mission in New Delhi, India, before returning to serve in the Presidency.
The inauguration of the two ministers marks another step in the administration’s efforts to strengthen governance and maintain continuity in key sectors following recent cabinet changes.
