President Bola Tinubu has pledged that his administration will ensure justice for the pupils and teachers rescued from captivity in Oriire community, Oyo State, as well as for the family of Mr. Oyedokun, who was killed during the abduction.
The President made the pledge following the successful rescue of the victims by security operatives after they spent more than 50 days in the custody of their abductors.
Tinubu praised the military, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Police Force for carrying out what he described as a successful intelligence-led operation that secured the victims’ freedom without any casualties among the hostages.
According to the President, security personnel worked tirelessly for 56 days to bring the children and their teachers home safely. He disclosed that several of the kidnappers were neutralised during the operation, while eight suspects were arrested.
“I am profoundly happy that our security forces successfully rescued the abducted pupils and teachers from Oriire in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, after a military, police and intelligence-driven operation that neutralised some of the terrorists responsible for the attack and led to the arrest of eight others,” Tinubu said.
He expressed sympathy to the rescued pupils, teachers, their families, and all Nigerians who endured weeks of anxiety over the incident, noting that the successful operation had brought relief to the affected families and the nation.
The President commended the dedication of the armed forces, intelligence agencies, and the police, saying their commitment made the rescue possible.
He reiterated his administration’s determination to ensure those responsible for the abduction face the full weight of the law.
“My government will get justice for these children, their teachers, and the family of Mr. Oyedokun, who was brutally murdered by the terrorists,” he stated.
Tinubu also applauded the Oyo State Government for working closely with the Federal Government throughout the rescue operation. He urged the state authorities to strengthen security measures around schools to prevent similar incidents.
In addition, the President directed relevant emergency response agencies to partner with the Oyo State Government in providing medical care, psychological support, and other necessary assistance to the rescued pupils and teachers.
