The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has threatened any nation supplying military weapons to Iran with severe economic consequences, including a 50% tariff on all goods exported to the U.S.
Trump delivered the warning on his Truth Social platform amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran. He stated, “A country supplying military weapons to Iran will be immediately tariffed, on any and all goods sold to the United States of America, 50%, effective immediately. There will be no exclusions or exemptions.”
While taking a hardline stance, Trump also hinted at ongoing diplomatic talks with Iran, saying his administration is “talking Tariff and Sanctions relief with Iran,” suggesting a mix of pressure and negotiation.
Earlier, Trump accused CNN of reporting a false claim attributed to Iran’s Supreme National Security Council regarding a recent ceasefire. He described the report as originating from a “fake news site from Nigeria” and rejected it as fraudulent. CNN had quoted Iran claiming the ceasefire represented a historic victory and acceptance of Tehran’s 10-point proposal.
“The alleged statement put out by CNN World News is a FRAUD, as CNN well knows,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, emphasizing the report’s unreliable source.
