Popular British rapper Skepta has reacted to the ongoing debate about British and American rappers.
The lyricist recently revealed that UK rappers deserve more respect from American rappers.
Speaking during an interview with Link UP TV, Skepta said that UK rappers have been underrated for long enough, and it is very unfair.
According to him, while UK rappers definitely have what it takes to destroy US rappers lyrically if it comes down to it, all he and his colleagues want is the due respect their creativity deserves.
Skepta stated that he is not looking for a rap battle between rappers from both countries; he just doesn’t like how the work of UK emcees gets downplayed a lot.
“My challenge to US rappers was me saying it is time to get the respect we [UK rappers] deserve. It wasn’t from a place of we are going to annihilate them [US rappers] even though I feel that it is definitely possible. It is more of we want the respect,” he said.
The British rapper’s opinion on the debate comes after Drake claimed that UK rappers are the best in the rap game.
The Canadian singer and rapper made the revelation during his electrifying performance at the Wireless Festival in London on Saturday.
