Wema Bank has celebrated its 81st anniversary alongside the 9th anniversary of its digital banking platform, ALAT, on Saturday, May 2, 2026, with a renewed focus on rewarding customers and expanding financial opportunities.
Unlike its elaborate 80th anniversary celebration in 2025, the bank has chosen a more customer-focused approach this year. Activities marking the milestone include reward packages for users on the ALAT app, as well as benefits for customers attending the launch of Season 5 of its “5 for 5” reward initiative, scheduled for the same day.
Aligned with its anniversary theme, “Your Future of Possibilities, Powered by Wema Bank,” the bank is also introducing a targeted customer success programme. The initiative is designed to support various customer segments — including entrepreneurs, students, working professionals, and creatives — with tailored guidance, practical tools, and strategic insights to help them achieve their personal and business goals.
Speaking on the anniversary, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Moruf Oseni, said the celebration reflects the bank’s commitment to helping customers adapt and thrive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
He noted that with technological advancement reshaping financial services, the bank is focused on equipping its customers with the tools and opportunities needed to stay ahead. According to him, Wema Bank aims to deliver a smarter, more secure banking experience that anticipates customer needs and provides timely solutions.
Oseni added that beyond traditional banking, the institution is building a broader ecosystem that supports growth, innovation, and long-term success for its customers.
He expressed appreciation to stakeholders including investors, regulators, partners, employees, and customers for their contributions to the bank’s 81-year journey, describing the milestone as a shared achievement.
Over the years, Wema Bank has built a reputation for empowering individuals and businesses through innovative financial solutions, digital platforms, and customer-focused services aimed at driving growth and sustainability.
