Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has described himself as Nigeria’s most criticized politician after President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking at a thanksgiving ceremony on Saturday at the residence of South-South Development Commission Chairman Chibudom Nwuche in Ochigba community, Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State, Wike attributed the criticism he faces to his stance on honoring political commitments.
“We have consistently supported President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. After the President, I am the most criticized politician in this country,” Wike stated during a meeting with political leaders from Ahoada East.
The minister suggested that his insistence on implementing agreed-upon political arrangements has made him a target of attacks. He questioned the authenticity of some politicians who now claim allegiance to President Tinubu, asking where they were during the crucial 2023 elections.
“Our support for President Tinubu has been unwavering. Those claiming to support him now—where were they in 2023?” Wike remarked.
The South-South Development Commission Chairman, Chibudom Nwuche, who organized the thanksgiving service with his family, pledged continued support for Wike. He praised the former Rivers State governor for his loyalty to political allies and consistent leadership approach.
Nwuche emphasized that political leaders throughout Rivers State remain committed to supporting Wike, citing his dedication to fulfilling agreements and pursuing development initiatives as reasons for the trust and respect he commands in the region.
