Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has assured President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of victory in Rivers State during the 2027 presidential election, telling him to “sleep with both eyes closed” while waiting for the results.
Speaking during a “thank you” visit to Port Harcourt City Local Government Area on Saturday, Wike said nobody can stop him and his supporters from backing Tinubu’s reelection bid in Rivers State.
“If there is one state that the President knows he can go home and sleep with his two eyes closed, it is Rivers State,” Wike told supporters from both the All Progressives Congress and Peoples Democratic Party.
The minister recalled how Rivers State voters supported Tinubu in 2023 against all odds. He warned that late-comers who previously supported other candidates cannot now claim to lead the Renewed Hope Agenda in the state.
“You were not there from the beginning. Suddenly, food is done; you now jump in and want to be the one to eat first. Is that possible? Nobody in this state can push us out,” Wike said.
Port Harcourt Mayor Sir Allwell Ihunda pledged readiness to follow Wike’s directives for 2027, while state lawmakers thanked the minister for supporting Tinubu in 2023 and bringing benefits to Rivers State.
