Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration over the rising wave of insecurity in the country, saying Nigerians are being treated as though their lives do not matter.
In a post shared on her Instagram page, Jegede reacted to the continued reports of killings, kidnappings and other violent crimes across several parts of Nigeria, expressing concern over what she described as the government’s weak response to victims and their families.
The actress said insecurity should not only be measured by the crimes themselves but also by how authorities respond when citizens are attacked or go missing. According to her, many Nigerians feel abandoned because they believe there is little effort to rescue victims or ensure justice for perpetrators are held accountable.
Addressing President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu in her statement, Jegede insisted that citizens should not be treated as “doormats” in their own country.
She added that insecurity has cut across ethnic, religious and social lines, stressing that victims of violence are drawn from all backgrounds without discrimination.
In her words, she wrote that the government “lacks a sense of humanity,” adding that the widespread belief that missing persons are rarely pursued is worsening public fear and distrust.
Jegede further stated that the ongoing security crisis affects all Nigerians regardless of tribe, religion or class, and called for more decisive action from authorities to restore public confidence.
