The Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has provided insights into the tragic incident that resulted in the loss of two lives at the Canadian Embassy in Abuja. FEMA’s spokesperson, Nkechi Isa, issued a brief statement confirming that a diesel tank explosion was the root cause of the fire that engulfed a portion of the diplomatic premises.

Isa elaborated, stating, “One of the generators was in operation while the other was undergoing maintenance when a tank containing 2,000 liters of diesel within the generator house suddenly exploded.”
Tragically, two of the personnel responsible for servicing the generator lost their lives as a result of the explosion, while two others suffered severe burns and were promptly transported to the Trauma Center at the National Hospital in Abuja.
