Adron Homes & Properties Ltd. has issued a strong rebuttal to allegations published by the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) on May 22, 2025, demanding an immediate retraction and public apology for what it calls a “malicious and defamatory” report.
The controversy centres on claims that the Lagos-based property company failed to refund a land payment to client Solomon Oludare Akinbo for a plot at Treasure Park and Garden, Phase 2, in Shimawa, Ogun State.
In a detailed statement released by company management, Adron Homes categorically denied the allegations, describing them as “significant misrepresentations” that damage the company’s reputation.
Company’s Defence
According to Adron Homes, land was provisionally allocated to Mr. Akinbo in accordance with their standard allocation policy, which requires clients to formally indicate readiness to build through written notice before finalisation. The company maintains this policy to prevent undeveloped plots across their estates.
The property developer also disputed claims of coercion regarding construction services, stating that Akinbo voluntarily requested them to manage his building project. “We uphold a policy of allowing all our clients the freedom to engage any registered builder or construction engineer of their choice,” the statement read.
Refund Process Dispute
Addressing the refund issue, Adron Homes outlined their transparent refund policy, which requires clients to submit written requests and complete specific documentation procedures. The company claims Akinbo has not complied with these requirements despite “multiple official communications.”
“Mr. Akinbo is expected to return all contractual documents currently in his possession before we can proceed with the closure of his account and the issuance of his refund cheque,” the statement explained.
Journalism Ethics Questioned
Adron Homes expressed particular frustration with FIJ’s reporting process, alleging the publication failed to seek their official position before publishing. “This one-sided approach contradicts the principles of ethical journalism and has resulted in the propagation of false and damaging narratives,” the company stated.
The property developer has formally demanded the immediate removal of the article from all FIJ platforms, along with a written public apology and a follow-up article presenting their perspective.
