Popular Atlanta rapper Young Thug has said that Kendrick Lamar will never eclipse Drake’s success.
He recently reflected on a failed attempt to secure a Kendrick feature, presumably for his 2023 album “Business Is Business.”
Speaking in a newly leaked audio clip from his time behind bars during his high-profile RICO trial, Young Thug blasted Lamar for feeling too big to collaborate with fellow superstars.
According to him, while Kendrick Lamar has enjoyed massive success as a rapper over the years, he would not be respected if he keeps ignoring the opportunity to put others on.
Revealing that he was not the only one who got rejected, the lyricist stated that Lil Durk and Lil Baby were also turned down when they reached out for collaborations.
“These ni***s too big, like ‘I ain’t doing no features,’ why? Why wouldn’t you wanna do a feature for a superstar? Put somebody on! It’s okay to run your few hundred M’s up, but who’d you help, though?” he said.
He further noted that Kendrick’s stance is mainly down to his growing ego and a lack of community-mindedness in his approach to rap music.
Comparing the “Not Like Us” crooner to Drake, Young Thug stressed that the lack of features is why Lamar will never be as successful as the Canadian rapper.
“You supposed to be a nia blessing nias. That’s why these ni***s will never be bigger than Drake, EVER in life,” he added.
Young Thug regained his freedom in 2024 and is currently preparing to release his next studio album, “Uy Scuti.”
