Meta has launched a new range of paid subscription plans for Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, marking a major shift in its business strategy as the technology giant expands beyond advertising revenue. The company announced the global rollout of monthly subscription packages designed to give users access to premium features, advanced customization options and enhanced engagement tools. The new offerings are part of a broader subscription ecosystem being developed under the “Meta One” brand. According to Meta, the subscriptions are aimed at everyday users, content creators, businesses and artificial intelligence enthusiasts seeking additional functionality beyond what is available in the free versions of the platforms. Monthly Subscription Prices Meta has introduced three consumer-focused subscription packages: Instagram Plus – $3.99 per month Facebook Plus – $3.99 per month WhatsApp Plus – $2.99 per month Subscribers will gain access to exclusive features, improved customization tools and deeper insights into audience engagement. Meta said more premium features will be added over time. Instagram Plus Targets Creators and Influencers Instagram Plus is designed for creators, influencers and highly active users who want greater control over their content and audience interactions. Key features include: Story rewatch analytics Unlimited Story audience lists Weekly Story spotlight opportunities Extended Story visibility beyond 24 hours Story preview mode without appearing on viewer lists Searchable Story viewer records Direct posting to profile highlights Animated Super Heart reactions Custom app icons Personalized profile fonts Additional profile pins Meta said these tools will help creators improve audience engagement while offering more creative ways to personalize their profiles. Facebook Plus Offers Enhanced Social Features Facebook Plus provides many of the same premium customization and engagement tools available on Instagram Plus. The service is designed for users who spend significant time on Facebook and want greater profile control, improved content visibility and access to exclusive features not available to free users. WhatsApp Plus Adds More Personalization WhatsApp Plus focuses on improving the messaging experience through additional customization options. Subscribers will enjoy: Custom app themes Personalized ringtones Extra pinned chats Advanced list management Premium sticker collections Other exclusive messaging tools Meta said the goal is to provide a more personalized and flexible communication experience for users who rely heavily on WhatsApp. Meta Verified Remains Unchanged The company clarified that the new subscription plans are separate from Meta Verified, its existing verification service. Meta Verified will continue to offer: Verified account badges Protection against impersonation Enhanced customer support Both services will operate independently for now, although Meta may integrate some features in the future. Meta Expands Into AI Subscription Services Meta is also entering the premium AI market with two new subscription tiers: Meta One Plus – $7.99 Monthly Subscribers will receive access to advanced AI capabilities and higher usage limits. Meta One Premium – $19.99 Monthly The top-tier package includes: Enhanced AI reasoning capabilities Advanced thinking mode Expanded image-generation tools Additional video-creation features Increased computing resources for complex tasks Meta AI will remain available free of charge, while premium users will gain access to more powerful tools and capabilities. New Business and Creator Packages Meta is also testing professional subscription plans aimed at creators and businesses. Meta One Essential – $14.99 Monthly Features include: Verified badge Impersonation protection Enhanced profile links Expanded online presence tools Meta One Advanced – $49.99 Monthly The premium business package offers: Priority placement in Facebook feeds Higher rankings in Facebook and Instagram searches Increased Reels visibility Automated follow invitations Website and online shop promotion tools Advanced audience analytics Competitive performance insights Content scheduling features Team account management tools Copyright monitoring and content reuse alerts A New Direction for Social Media The introduction of paid subscriptions represents one of Meta’s most significant shifts toward a subscription-based model. While Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp will remain free to use, the company is betting that users, creators and businesses will pay for premium tools that improve visibility, customization and content performance. The move also highlights a broader trend in the social media industry, where advanced features and digital services are increasingly being offered through paid memberships rather than traditional advertising-supported models.

Nike’s Motorized Footwear System Will Change How You Walk And Run

For a brand that is synonymous with the phrase, “Just Do It,” we are not shocked that Nike keeps pushing the nature of footwear. Amid all of the reduced revenues and intense competition, Nike’s design chief, Phil McCartney, is currently spearheading a reinvention that will change the sneaker industry.

The popular footwear brand is currently working on launching motorised shoes that could fundamentally change how we walk, run and think about athletes’ gear.

Nike’s motorized footwear system will help casual athletes and mobility-impaired people move quicker.

After several years of focusing more on lifestyle retro releases and less on breakthrough performance tech, the company’s revenue has continued to decline, spanning six quarters and a share value drop of almost 9% this year.

This led to Phil McCartney’s appointment as chief innovation, design and product officer in May to “fix one of Nike’s stalled development engines.”

Nike’s watchword has gone from “Just Do It” to “Create Epic Sh-t,” and Phi has overseen memorable innovations, with “Project Amplify” standing out. This project will deliver a powered footwear system that will help propel the wearer forward at each step, making walking or running become augmented. The prototypes presently look like “robot legs,” but the design is still evolving.

The company is not expecting “Project Amplify” to hit stores until 2028, but its potential impact is already the talk of the town.

Just imagine shoes that sense your gait, dynamically add power or assistance, decrease fatigue and aid longer distances? This is definitely a major shift from foam-based technology that the world is already used to.

“Make athletes better … If it’s not, we shouldn’t do it,” Phil said.

Poonam Goyal of Bloomberg Intelligence noted that shoppers have to resonate with a product to be interested in buying it.

“Innovation and product development are everything; they need products to resonate to get shoppers interested. Should they fail, the turnaround fails,” he added.

With a reduction in revenue and pressure from competitors like On and Hoka in running categories, Nike must fight to maintain its relevance on the track and in the marketplace.
