Bolaji Ogunmola, a Nollywood actress and filmmaker, has shared her harrowing experience of being stranded at Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport after a series of flight delays and cancellations left her unable to return to Lagos for a crucial film production.
In an emotional video that has circulated widely online, Ogunmola detailed how the disruption threatened to derail her new film project, which has already cost between ₦15 million and ₦20 million. The filmmaker had travelled to Ekiti State for pre-production work, with her cast, crew, catering team, and logistics already in place in Lagos, awaiting her return for the first day of shooting.
Ogunmola recounted that she was initially scheduled to depart Ekiti the day before but was notified at the airport that her flight had been delayed. After hours of waiting, Ogunmola learned the flight had been cancelled entirely, with no alternative travel options provided. Her attempts to secure a flight through nearby Akure also proved fruitless.
After paying for overnight accommodation near the airport, Ogunmola was assured of an 8:00 a.m. departure the next morning. Arriving at 6:30 a.m., the actress was instead informed of successive schedule changes—first to 9:30 a.m., then noon, and eventually to 5:30 p.m.
Visibly distressed in her video, Ogunmola described the ordeal as both painful and professionally devastating. She criticized what she characterized as inadequate communication from the airline, emphasizing that the delays had direct financial consequences for her production and the livelihoods of her waiting crew members.
Ogunmola clarified that her journey was purely professional, not recreational, and that the mounting uncertainty had forced her to contemplate the potentially unsafe alternative of road travel to Lagos.
The filmmaker stated that she posted the video to document her experience rather than to attack anyone, while appealing for improved passenger communication and greater consideration for travelers whose professional obligations and personal safety depend on dependable air service.
