Gunmen have reportedly attacked an Immigration Service office in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, in a late-night operation during which officers on duty were disarmed.
The incident was said to have occurred on Tuesday night around 10 pm, when the attackers stormed the facility and dispossessed personnel of their firearms before escaping. A local source in Ogbomoso confirmed the development, according to reports.
As of the time of filing this report, the Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
Meanwhile, in a separate security incident, gunmen killed two police officers along the Amansea–Ndiora–Ndiukwuenu–Awa–Ufuma Road in Anambra State.
The attack reportedly happened in the Orumba South area, where the officers were ambushed while returning from an assignment. Eyewitnesses said the assailants had laid in wait in a nearby bush before opening fire on the officers, causing panic in surrounding communities.
A tricycle rider who witnessed the aftermath said he heard gunshots while passing through the area and fled for safety before later discovering that two officers had been killed.
