President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the immediate arrest of Prince George Buchi Nwabueze and approved the suspension of three Permanent Secretaries following the discovery of an allegedly unauthorized agency operating within the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
The development was announced on Friday by the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Musa Adamu Aliyu, during a briefing with State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
According to the ICPC, the organization identified as the National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office had been operating from office space within the SGF complex without presidential approval.
The commission said the discovery was made during investigations into the earlier case involving the alleged fictitious Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), as well as broader concerns over weaknesses in government administrative procedures.
Aliyu identified Nwabueze as the alleged promoter of the unauthorized office and said investigators were examining the possible involvement of individuals within the SGF who may have facilitated its activities.
Following the ICPC briefing, President Tinubu directed security authorities to arrest Nwabueze and ordered the suspension of three Permanent Secretaries: M. S. Danjuma, Engineer Nadungu Gagare and Richard P. Pheelangwah.
The ICPC said its investigation remains ongoing, while the President has directed a forensic review of government processes to identify loopholes and strengthen safeguards against the establishment of unauthorized government bodies.
The latest action is part of the administration’s efforts to tighten oversight and prevent individuals or groups from exploiting government offices and structures without proper authorization.
