Former Ogun State Governor, Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel, is set to attend the 7th Annual Lecture of Freedom Online, where discussions on Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, the economy, security and the country’s future will take centre stage.
The lecture, organised by Swaaya Limited, publishers of Freedom Online, holds today, Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the Sheraton Lagos Hotel, Ikeja, from 9:00am.
Daniel, who governed Ogun State between 2003 and 2011, will attend as Special Guest of Honour alongside other notable political, media and public-sector figures.
Themed “2027 Elections: Economy, Security & Nigeria’s Future,” the lecture is expected to spark robust conversations on the country’s political direction ahead of the 2027 polls, as well as the economic and security challenges facing Nigeria.
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, will serve as Special Guest Speaker, while former Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, will chair the occasion.
President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) and Editor of Vanguard, Eze Anaba, is Chief Host, while Gabriel Akinadewo, Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of Freedom Online, is host.
Daniel’s participation is expected to lend significant political and governance weight to conversations on the 2027 elections, given his extensive experience in public administration, politics and national affairs.
The lecture comes at a critical time, as political activities and conversations around the 2027 elections continue to gather momentum, with the economy, national security and Nigeria’s future direction expected to dominate public discourse.
The gathering is expected to bring together politicians, media executives, policymakers, professionals and other stakeholders to examine the challenges and opportunities shaping Nigeria’s political and socio-economic future beyond 2027.
