The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has postponed its presidential and governorship screening exercises, earlier slated for this weekend, moving them to Monday.
The party made the announcement on Saturday in Abuja through its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi. It also disclosed that the screening of National Assembly aspirants will now be conducted in Abuja, citing security concerns in parts of northern Nigeria as the reason for the adjustment.
According to the statement, all affected aspirants will be duly contacted and provided with updated schedules and further details regarding the new arrangements. The party expressed regret over any inconvenience caused by the shift and appreciated the understanding of stakeholders.
Meanwhile, former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has formally declared his intention to contest the party’s presidential primary under the ADC platform.
Amaechi, who recently submitted his nomination forms at the party secretariat, said his decision to run is driven by a desire to restore dignity to Nigerians and tackle the country’s economic and social challenges.
He is expected to compete for the party’s presidential ticket against other contenders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Hayetu-deen.
