Authorities in Ogun State have brought a six-count criminal case against prominent social media content creator Adetoun Onajobi, known online as @justadetoun, alleging violations related to cyberbullying and the publication of misleading information targeting state officials.
The case, currently before the Federal High Court’s Abeokuta Division, centers on alleged breaches of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act. Law enforcement officials claim Onajobi used various internet platforms to spread unverified allegations and engage in what they describe as cyberbullying directed at Governor Dapo Abiodun.
According to DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, spokesperson for the state police command, investigators requested Onajobi’s appearance for questioning on January 2, 2026, regarding her online activities. She did not attend, with her legal representative instead submitting correspondence stating she was unable to appear due to medical reasons, supported by documentation from a physician.
Police investigators subsequently determined the medical documentation was fraudulent. The physician who purportedly authored the report was taken into custody and allegedly admitted to creating the false document following a telephone request from Onajobi, reportedly coordinated through her attorney, according to the police statement.
The doctor now faces charges in an Ogun State Magistrates’ Court including conspiracy, document falsification, and interference with legal proceedings.
Authorities report that Onajobi has not responded to subsequent requests for her cooperation and her present location remains undetermined.
In their statement, the police command emphasized its commitment to addressing criminal activity across all categories while maintaining respect for constitutional protections, noting that freedom of expression does not provide immunity for illegal actions.
Officials indicated they are also investigating additional individuals allegedly involved in spreading false information intended to interfere with ongoing police work. Babaseyi stated that the command will pursue all available legal measures to secure Onajobi’s court appearance to address the pending charges.
