Federal lawmaker Hon. Agboworin paid a courtesy visit to Olubadan-designate Oba Rashidi Ladoja at his Ibadan residence on Friday, September 12, 2025, ahead of the monarch’s scheduled coronation on September 26, 2025.
The representative for Ibadan North East/South East federal constituency used the occasion to congratulate the former Oyo State governor on his ascension to the throne of Ibadanland, describing it as “the will of God.”
During his visit, Agboworin, who is serving his second term in the House of Representatives, praised Ladoja’s wealth of experience and leadership qualities.
“Kabiyesi, my father, I greet you, and I am very happy to see you in this position today. I want to congratulate you because I see this ascension as the will of God for your life,” Agboworin stated during the visit.
The lawmaker reflected on years of receiving guidance from Ladoja, expressing confidence that Ibadan would prosper under his leadership as someone with extensive experience as both a former senator and governor.
“I am convinced and confident that Ibadan will flourish under your wise and experienced leadership as a former Senator and governor of the state. I pray that God will give you long life, filled with peace and happiness on the throne of your forefathers,” he added.
Renewed Commitment to Ibadan State Creation
The Olubadan-designate used the opportunity to reaffirm his commitment to the creation of Ibadan State, describing it as “long overdue.”
“What we are saying is the fact that the creation of Ibadan state is long overdue. It is big enough to stand as a state,” Oba Ladoja remarked, acknowledging the efforts of stakeholders working toward this goal.
He expressed optimism about the prospects, stating, “We will continue to explore possible means to make sure the Ibadan State is created as we forge on. I believe it will happen this time.”
Agboworin was accompanied by several prominent political figures, including newly elected House of Representatives member for Ibadan North Federal Constituency Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, PDP Chairman of Ibadan North East Local Government Hon. Fatokun Abuye, and former Ibadan South East Local Government Chairman Hon. Abiodun Ekolo.
Other members of the delegation included former State Assembly member Hon. Fatai Adesina, PDP Women leader Mrs. Olaniyan Olanike, Sir Adekola Adisa, and various personal aides.
The official coronation ceremony for Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the new Olubadan of Ibadanland is scheduled to take place on September 26, 2025, at Mapo Hall in Ibadan.
The event is expected to bring together dignitaries from across Nigeria to witness the installation of the former governor as the paramount ruler of one of Nigeria’s most significant traditional institutions.
