The female wing of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), the Association of Professional Women Bankers (APWB), is set to hold its annual conference in conjunction with the commemoration of its 40th anniversary in Lagos.
During a media briefing in Lagos, APWB Chairperson Funke Feyisitan Ladimeji announced that the event, scheduled for December 18th at the Federal Palace in Lagos at 5 p.m., will feature discussions on a crucial and timely issue with widespread implications in Nigeria. The conference, themed “Banking on Women – Imperatives for a Sustainable Future,” will also include awards and recognition for leaders who have made significant contributions to the industry.
Distinguished speakers expected at the event include philanthropist and leading investor Tony Elumelu, Ecobank Chairman Mrs. Bola Adesola, award-winning talent professional Temi Dalley, and renowned executive coach Lanre Olusola, among others.
Ladimeji emphasized the importance of sharing the journey of women in banking, highlighting the progress chronicled in their publication, “Be Inspired,” which celebrates women positively impacting and empowering female bankers.
“This year is unique because it is also our anniversary, providing us with a wonderful opportunity to pause and consider the journey so far. We aim to recognize and celebrate the progress of women in banking over the last 40 years,” Ladimeji remarked.
She further noted APWB’s commitment to driving female leadership and inclusion in the financial services sector, as well as their passion for nation-building and celebrating the achievements of female bankers. Ladimeji listed the core values of APWB as integrity, professionalism, innovation, and ethics, highlighting the association’s initiatives such as “The Leadership Series,” focusing on banking executives, and programs like “Building Your Career” for mid-management levels and “Moving Forward” for junior bankers.
