Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has dissolved the State Executive Council and relieved all commissioners of their duties with immediate effect.
According to Naija News, the move aims to allow commissioners who plan to contest in the 2027 general elections to step down from their executive roles without any conflict of interest.
Governor Zulum has directed all former commissioners to hand over the management of their ministries to the Permanent Secretaries by Friday, April 3, 2026. He also thanked them for their dedication and contributions to the development of Borno State during their tenure.
In a similar move, Cross River State Governor, Bassey Edet Otu, has instructed all members of his State Executive Council and political appointees who intend to run in the 2027 elections to resign on or before March 26, 2026.
Governor Otu emphasized that no appointee with political ambitions for 2027 would be allowed to remain in office past the deadline, stressing the need for focus, discipline, and integrity in governance.
