The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially unveiled a redesigned trophy for the CAF Champions League, in partnership with TotalEnergies.
The unveiling ceremony took place at TotalEnergies’ South African headquarters in Johannesburg, with African football legends such as Lucas Radebe, Teko Modise, and Siphiwe Tshabalala in attendance, alongside key CAF officials and football leaders.
One of this season’s finalists—Mamelodi Sundowns or Pyramids—will be the first to lift the new trophy, marking a historic moment in African football.
The new design is not just a replacement, but a bold step in CAF’s ongoing efforts to modernize and elevate its competitions. The trophy is part of a larger rebranding strategy aimed at amplifying the global appeal of African football.
“In line with the vision of CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, we are rebranding and repositioning African football with a special focus on interclub competitions,” said CAF General Secretary Véron Mosengo-Omba. “This TotalEnergies CAF Champions League trophy reveal reflects our goals and bold steps toward an exciting African club football environment.”
The trophy’s design draws inspiration from the continent’s rich cultural heritage and the intense spirit of competition. Featuring sleek silver and gold lines, it symbolizes unity, rivalry, and the balance that defines the Champions League. A golden sphere at the top, adorned with African symbolism, represents the ultimate prize: victory.
The blend of silver and gold also signifies the dual celebration of champions and the honour of their challengers—underscoring the values of respect, ambition, and excellence that define African football.
