Each time anyone close to us either by blood relationship or social affiliation passes, we as humans are reminded that our lives are transient, and the world we live in is only a temporary abode. The sudden passing of Nollywood’s leading filmmaker, my beloved brother and good friend Chico Ejiro in the early hours of Friday, December 25, has once again reminded us that our eternal home is in heaven with our maker.
Late Chico was a sweet soul; he was a charmer. Apart from his incontrovertible professionalism in his craft as a film producer and director, late Chico had an admirable knack for uprightness. He was a bluntly honest person. And yeah, he had an extremely witty personality too.
For someone so full of life, fervor and for his age – I learnt he was 57 years old – Chico’s death was completely unforeseen.

Late Chico was also an admirable lover of God, who also used his talent for kingdom advancement. For several years, he was Media Consultant to The Bishop Isaac Idahosa Foundation, and he contributed immensely in ideas to the growth of the foundation.
We undertook several charity projects together, and he was my go-to man countless times for media related.
Late Chico Ejiro was a national treasure, his immense contribution to the growth of the film industry in Nigeria through his artful body of works would continue to be an enduring legacy.
I commiserate with the Ejiro family, Sister Joy his beloved wife, and children who survived him, as well as his Nollywood family. May the Lord rest the soul of the departed. Amen.
