A lawyer representing several of his alleged victims of sexual abuse has claimed there could be as many as 300 civil legal cases against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.
Tony Buzbee, who has already issued 20 lawsuits from people seeking damages from the disgraced hip-hop mogul, said his team has received around 3,000 calls since he asked potential victims to come forward in October.
He told the BBC the potential number of cases ‘is probably in the 300 range’ but the final total will most likely be ‘100 to 150’ as not all will make it to court.
Buzbee’s lawsuits allege that many of the people he represents were abused at parties in New York, California, and Florida where individuals were given drinks that were laced with drugs.
Combs’ lawyers have dismissed Buzbee’s lawsuits as ‘shameless publicity stunts, designed to extract payments from celebrities who fear having lies spread about them, just as lies have been spread about Mr. Combs.’
The musician has been charged with racketeering, s3x trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution, all of which he denies.
The 55-year-old, who was one of the most sought-after producers of rap and soul in the 1990s, is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn ahead of his May 2025 trial.
It comes after the Texas attorney also filed a lawsuit against Jay-Z, accusing the iconic rapper as well as Combs of s3xually assaulting a minor at an awards show after-party in 2000.
On Sunday, Jay-Z issued a statement in which he accused Buzbee of trying to blackmail him by getting him to agree to a legal settlement over allegations he and Combs raped a woman when she was 13 years old.
‘I have no idea how you have come to be such a deplorable human Mr. Buzbee, but I promise you I have seen your kind many times over,’ Jay-Z said in his statement.
‘You claim to be a marine? Marines are known for their valor, you have neither honor nor dignity.’
Combs is currently preparing to spend Christmas behind bars as he awaits trial in May next year.
A spokesperson for the detention center has said he and fellow inmates will have the opportunity to participate in card games, dominoes, soccer, and a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, Fox News reported.
The rapper is accused of arranging ‘Freak Offs,’ described as ‘elaborate and produced sex performances,’ arranged and directed by Combs while he masturbated and often recorded them.
He has pleaded not guilty to charges alleging he coerced and abused women for years, aided by associates and employees, and silenced victims through blackmail and violence, including kidnapping, arson and physical beatings.
Dozens of people, some of whom were allegedly minors at the time, have sued Diddy in civil courts for a string of offenses, which he also denies.
The fallen hip-hop mogul said that the ‘allegations and aggressive and deceptive media tactics’ by prosecutors had already shredded his public image and only an acquittal could reverse that.
Diddy claimed the charges that he ran a decade-long criminal enterprise were ‘fictional’ and that prosecutors were putting a ‘theatrical spin’ on the truth.
