Former Anambra State Governor Chief Willie Obiano has said that Muhammadu Buhari’s death is very painful.
He recently revealed that he shared a very healthy relationship with the former president.
Speaking to journalists in Awka on Tuesday through his former aide, Chief Paul Nwosu, Obiano disclosed that the news was very unexpected to him, and Sunday turned out to be a black day for him and his family.
According to him, Buhari was a disciplined and principled leader who confronted corruption with a rare resolve and served his fatherland with honesty and simplicity.
He stated that history would remember the former President as a man who governed with deep conviction and stood firm on everything he believed in.
“He firmly resisted alleged attempts to undermine the democratic space in the state and stood by democratic ideals and upheld the sanctity of his mandate,” he said.
He further hailed the late President for his fairness and respect for democratic processes, especially during his time as governor.
Obiano concluded by saying that despite their political differences, PMB offered him a rare friendship.
“He welcomed me warmly into his inner circle, included me on presidential delegations abroad, and granted me unfettered access to his office.
His openness and magnanimity defined him as a man of repute.
President Muhammadu Buhari will be greatly missed. May his soul find eternal rest,” he added.
