Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, is reportedly preparing to resign from his ministerial position to pursue the governorship of Lagos State under the All Progressives Congress (APC) banner.
The announcement comes amid growing uncertainty over who will succeed Governor Babajide Sanwoolu, who is nearing the end of his second term. Despite speculation, there remains no definitive frontrunner for the 2026 Lagos governorship.
Political insiders note that the state’s succession process is influenced by key party figures, with final approval resting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Other notable names reportedly vying for the APC ticket include Hakeem Muri-Okunola, Femi Gbajabiamila, Seyi Tinubu, and Femi Hamzat, alongside Tunji Alausa.
