Mohbad’s close friend, Owodunni Ibrahim, a.k.a Primeboy, has come out to share his side of the story after the singer’s death.
He recently addressed widespread speculation about his alleged role in Mohbad’s demise.
Speaking during a tell-all interview with activist VeryDarkMan, Primeboy revealed that he never hit or hurt Mohbad during their last public appearance together.
According to him, after Mohbad’s performance that night, the singer was in a hurry to leave the venue, but while he was still in the car, ready to exit the building, area boys gathered outside, and Mohbad insisted on stepping out to meet them.
Primeboy stated that he warned the singer not to meet the agberos and even told his wife to caution him against stepping out of the car.
“I never touched or hit Mohbad at the show. There was no fight, and there was no glass cut as people are claiming.
I told him not to go. I even asked Wunmi, his wife, to talk to him, but she said, ‘Isn’t he your friend? You should talk to him yourself,” he said.
Primeboy further noted that Mohbad eventually asked him to leave his car for interfering in his personal issues with Wunmi.
Revealing that he apologised for trespassing immediately, Primeboy disclosed that he suddenly woke up days later to find out his friend was dead.
Owodunni Ibrahim concluded by saying that people pinning Mohbad’s death on him broke him because even police officers believed he knew nothing about the tragedy that befell his friend.
“I told him I was sorry for poking my nose into his family matter, but he insisted I should get down.
I told Cubana that I was only trying to settle a fight between Mohbad and his wife in the car, but he got upset. Cubana told me to stay on stage while he went to check, but before I knew it, everyone had left.
On Tuesday, I was sleeping when a friend woke me up and said Mohbad was dead. I was confused. I called his dad immediately, and he said he was on his way to the house.
I don’t know why they arrested me. They declared me wanted without even inviting me first. Even while I was in the cell, police officers kept saying I had no hand in Mohbad’s death.
This really damaged me. I knew nothing about what happened to Mohbad,” he added.
