Residents of Kamba in Dandi Local Government Area, Kebbi State, are celebrating the opening of a new Fidelity Bank Plc branch, a development seen as a key step toward easing long-standing financial challenges for farmers, traders, and community members.
The Chairman of Dandi Local Government Council, Dr. Mansur Isah-Kamba, represented by Council Secretary Alhaji Abdulkadir Muhammad, welcomed the branch as a relief for residents who previously had to travel long distances to Birnin Kebbi for routine banking. “With this branch in our locality, the stress, cost, and time associated with banking outside the community will be significantly reduced,” he said, commending Fidelity Bank for supporting farmers and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The Sarkin Shikon Kamba, Alhaji Mahmoud Zarumai-Fana, highlighted the branch’s potential impact on the agricultural sector, which dominates the local economy. “Access to financial services will help farmers improve productivity and livelihoods. Proximity to banking will make it easier to save, access loans, and participate in agricultural programs,” he said.
At the inauguration, Mr. Muhammad Lawal-Ahijo, Regional Bank Head, North‑West Zone, reiterated Fidelity Bank’s commitment to financial inclusion and economic growth. “Our decision to open a branch in Kamba reflects our belief that every community deserves access to reliable financial services. This branch belongs to the community, and we encourage residents to take full advantage of the services available,” he said.
Dr. Abubakar Suleiman-Fana, a member of the Kebbi State House of Assembly representing Dandi Constituency, described the branch as a milestone for rural development. “Financial inclusion is critical to our constituency. Farmers, traders, and youths must leverage this opportunity to expand their businesses and improve their livelihoods,” he said.
Community members also expressed excitement about the convenience the branch brings. Mrs. Hassana Abubakar, a petty trader, explained, “Previously, I had to close my shop for a whole day whenever I traveled to Birnin Kebbi for banking. Now I can manage my banking locally, which will help my business grow.”
The new Kamba branch underscores Fidelity Bank’s ongoing dedication to supporting rural economies, empowering SMEs, and advancing financial inclusion across Nigeria. Ranked among the country’s top banks, Fidelity Bank serves over 10 million customers through 255 business offices, digital banking platforms, and its UK subsidiary, FidBank UK Limited, earning numerous local and international awards for innovation and excellence.
