Aloy Ejimakor, legal consultant to detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPoB) leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has sharply reacted to the revocation of bail granted to former Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) withdrew Malami’s bail over alleged violations of bail conditions. Malami’s media aide, Mohammed Bello Doka, disputed this claim, arguing that the decision stemmed from the former minister’s attendance at a political event in Kebbi State rather than any actual breach of terms. Doka characterized media reports to the contrary as misleading.
Responding via social media platform X, Ejimakor urged Malami to face the consequences of actions similar to those that marked his tenure as AGF. The lawyer accused Malami of orchestrating Kanu’s controversial extradition from Kenya, which he characterized as an extraordinary rendition that violated international law.
“Malami’s continued detention amidst his back and forth ‘bail issues’ with EFCC exemplifies how Malami falsely accused Mazi Nnamdi Kanu of ‘jumping bail,’ got his bail revoked and okayed the extraordinary rendition that convulsed Nigeria. Truly, what goes around, comes around,” Ejimakor wrote.
The lawyer drew parallels between Malami’s current legal troubles and Kanu’s situation, suggesting that the former AGF now experiences firsthand the same disregard for due process he allegedly displayed while in office.
