Newly elected President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, has expressed heartfelt appreciation to members of the association for entrusting her with the responsibility of leading the legal body.
In a message following her election, Badejo-Okusanya described the victory as both humbling and a call to greater service, thanking lawyers across the country for believing in her vision of “A Bolder Bar That Works for Everyone.”
She said the mandate was not a personal achievement but a collective victory for every member who believes the NBA can become stronger, more inclusive, responsive, and committed to advancing the interests of legal practitioners.
Reflecting on her campaign, the President-elect recalled travelling across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, where she met with lawyers to hear their concerns, aspirations, and ideas. According to her, those engagements will form the foundation of her administration.
Badejo-Okusanya also appreciated every lawyer who participated in the election, irrespective of the candidate they supported, stressing that the contest was over and that the association must now move forward in unity.
She congratulated her fellow contestants for contributing to a transparent democratic process and expressed readiness to work with them in strengthening the NBA and promoting the rule of law.
The President-elect extended special appreciation to members of the BBOLD Campaign Council, volunteers, coordinators, supporters, colleagues, and friends whose commitment and sacrifices, she said, made the campaign successful.
She also reserved warm words for her husband, thanking him for his unwavering love, encouragement, and steadfast support throughout the campaign. She equally acknowledged her family, mentors, and friends for their prayers and constant encouragement.
Looking ahead, Badejo-Okusanya pledged to lead the Nigerian Bar Association with integrity, courage, humility, fairness, and accountability.
She assured members that her administration would work to create an NBA where every lawyer has greater opportunities to earn better, live better, and practise more effectively.
Describing her election as the beginning of a new chapter rather than the end of a campaign, she urged members to unite in building a stronger association while praying for God’s continued blessings upon the Nigerian Bar Association and Nigeria.
