Governor Samuel Ortom Approves Construction Of Township Roads In Makurdi, Hails Outgoing Chairmen

Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has approved the construction of township roads in the North Bank area of Makurdi the state capital.
Mr Mike Inalegwu, Commissioner for information disclosed this on Tuesday night while briefing journalists after the state executive council meeting presided over by the Governor in Makurdi.

He explained that the project is expected to cost the state government the sum of 151.2 million naira.

Inalegwu quoted the council as expressing concern over the deplorable situation of the area over lack of access road network, and noted that the situation became necessary for the government to alleviate the suffering of citizens in the area.

According to the Commissioner, the council also approved an additional furnishing of the government lodge with the sum of 43 million naira, purchase of 13 security fitted vehicles and donation of official cars to outgoing local government Chairmen and local legislative leaders.

He explained that the monetization policy of the government became necessary for officials of the state who recently resigned to be allowed to go with their official cars which has as well, became mandatory for the state government to approve the purchase of 13 new security-fitted official cars which would cost the sum of, 682.3 million Naira to facilitate mobility of the new government officials.

Governor Ortom while commending the outgoing local government council Chairmen for their unflinching contributions to ensuring an enviable Benue, expressed that his administration was determined to ensure that citizens of the state enjoyed the dividends of democracy.
