The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State has returned Chief Yemi Sanusi and 35 other party officials as members of its State Executive Committee for another four-year term.
Their election was ratified through a voice affirmation by 1,180 delegates and statutory delegates during the State Congress held at the June 12 Cultural Centre in Abeokuta. The exercise was overseen by the APC Congress Committee Chairman, Chief Wale Ohu, in the presence of officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Chief Yemi Sanusi was re-elected as State Chairman. Other members of the executive include Alhaja Aminat Adigun as State Women Leader, Prince Aderibigbe Tella as State Secretary, and Chief Yemi Adelani as State Organising Secretary.
Addressing party members at the congress, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun stressed the importance of practising genuine internal democracy within the party. He urged members to move beyond patronage politics and embrace transparency, accountability, and principled leadership.
Abiodun noted that sustained electoral success would depend on strong grassroots mobilisation, organisational discipline, and clear, service-oriented communication. He praised delegates for endorsing the consensus candidates in what he described as a free and credible affirmation process.
With an eye on the 2027 general elections, the governor encouraged party faithful to intensify engagement at ward and local government levels, communicate achievements effectively, and build trust among undecided voters. He also appealed to aspirants who were not returned to remain loyal to the party, underscoring the need for unity.
In his remarks, Chief Wale Ohu described Governor Abiodun as a stabilising figure within the party, noting that the affirmation demonstrated the APC’s commitment to cohesion in the state.
In his acceptance speech, Sanusi expressed gratitude to Governor Abiodun and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for their roles in strengthening the party’s structure. He pledged that the executive would work diligently to justify the confidence reposed in them by consolidating party structures, promoting fairness, and expanding opportunities for young members.
Sanusi reaffirmed that discipline would remain a core value under his leadership and assured members of open and inclusive governance within the party.
