The Lead Pastor of Harvesters International Christian Center (HICC), Bolaji Idowu, is spending the night at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja over allegations of fraud involving ₦1.5 billion.
Sources at the FCID disclosed that Pastor Idowu, widely known for his “Next Level Prayer Conference,” was arrested and is currently under investigation for alleged real estate fraud and money laundering.
According to top police officials, the case reportedly stems from a complaint against one of the church’s pastors, who allegedly duped several individuals in a real estate scheme. The investigation revealed that funds from the scheme, running into billions of naira, were first traced to the church’s account before being linked to Pastor Idowu’s personal account.
“The investigation shows that the funds from the fraudulent real estate scheme were traced to both the church and the pastor’s personal accounts,” a senior police source stated. “Pastor Bolaji Idowu has been taken into custody for questioning.”
Pastor Bolaji Idowu, who established Harvesters International Christian Center in December 2003, oversees a growing ministry with locations in Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The church, known for its vibrant congregation, attracts over 70,000 worshippers online and onsite, according to its official website.
His widely followed “Next Level Prayers” platform encourages participants to cultivate a consistent prayer life and has garnered a large audience both within and outside Nigeria.
As of now, Pastor Idowu remains in custody as investigations into the alleged fraud and money laundering continue.
