Imo State is gearing up to host what organisers describe as West Africa’s premier economic gathering this season, with the Imo Invest Summit 2025 set to convene world leaders, multinational executives, and international financial institutions on December 4-5 at Owerri’s Concorde Boulevard.
Governor Hope Uzodimma will receive a distinguished roster of global figures, including former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Liberian President Joseph Boakai, ex-British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and former Mauritian President Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, alongside development specialists and international investors.
Under the theme “Unlocking Imo’s Economic Potential: Partnership, Investment, and Innovation,” the two-day event represents a significant milestone in Nigeria’s regional development narrative, showcasing Imo State’s emergence as an economic centre driven by infrastructure development, industrial expansion, renewable energy initiatives, agricultural advancement, technology adoption, and strategic collaborations between public and private sectors.
The summit reflects growing international interest in Imo State’s comprehensive economic modernisation program. Through targeted reforms emphasising business facilitation and investor-friendly frameworks, the gathering will demonstrate how regional governments can stimulate national economic growth and attract foreign investment.
Governor Uzodimma characterised the event as a development model for African states seeking global competitiveness, emphasising the presentation of viable projects, substantive reforms, and tangible opportunities for international partners interested in Africa’s expanding economic landscape.
Summit participants will explore significant initiatives, including the Orashi Special Energy Zone, representing Nigeria’s gas-to-industry strategy and renewable energy commitment. Additional focus areas encompass industrialisation through Special Economic Zones, mineral resource development, agricultural processing, digital infrastructure expansion, creative economy growth, and infrastructure financing through public-private collaboration.
The program features Ban Ki-moon discussing African regional economies’ positioning for global investment, conversations with Prof. Benedict Oramah on industrial development zones, and discussions covering infrastructure financing, energy accessibility, and logistics advancement. Subsequent sessions will address technology’s role in African economic development, agricultural industrialisation, digital transformation, and tourism-driven economic growth.
The summit will facilitate business networking opportunities, mineral sector discussions, small business competitions, investment presentations, and private consultations with officials, regulators, and development finance representatives.
Media organisations worldwide are invited to register coverage teams, with accredited journalists receiving comprehensive access to keynote presentations, exclusive leader interviews, advance briefings on major announcements, and logistical assistance.
