Nigeria President Bola Tinubu has extended his congratulations to Finance Minister Wale Edun following the minister’s appointment as Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (CVO) by King Charles III.
The honor, announced Tuesday through presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, recognizes Edun’s extensive contributions to the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, a global youth development initiative.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award operates as a character-building program designed to cultivate skills and leadership qualities among young people across the globe. In Nigeria alone, thousands of youth currently participate in the program’s activities.
In his congratulatory message, President Tinubu emphasized the significance of the recognition, noting its alignment with his administration’s focus on youth development and national transformation.
“President Tinubu welcomes the exceptional honor bestowed on the Minister, a pivotal member of his cabinet, and acknowledges that the recognition aligns with the priority his administration places on youth empowerment, opportunity, and national renewal,” Onanuga stated.
The president also commended Edun’s commitment and work ethic while reaffirming his government’s dedication to nurturing Nigeria’s young people as current and future leaders.
