Popular gospel filmmaker and founder of Mount Zion Faith Ministries, Evangelist Mike Bamiloye, has come to the defence of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (Redeemed Christian Church of God), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, following criticism over his comments on Nigeria’s worsening insecurity.
The controversy stems from a resurfaced video in which Adeboye called on the Federal Government to give security chiefs a 90-day ultimatum to end terrorism or step down. The clip, originally recorded in November 2025, sparked renewed debate after it circulated online alongside claims that the cleric had taken a political stance and opposed a planned protest against insecurity.
Reacting via his Instagram page, Bamiloye accused critics and bloggers of misrepresenting Adeboye’s message, insisting the RCCG leader has consistently spoken against injustice and societal ills.
According to him, expectations that an 84-year-old cleric should personally lead street protests are unreasonable, given his age and spiritual calling.
He also addressed references to Adeboye’s involvement in a 2020 protest during the Muhammadu Buhari administration, explaining that it was not a personal political action but a collective directive from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), which mobilised churches nationwide to speak out against insecurity.
Bamiloye further stressed that the primary responsibility of the church remains prayer and spiritual intervention for national peace and stability, rather than street demonstrations.
