The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Ogun State Chapter, has expressed strong satisfaction with the quality of representation provided by Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel during the BATOGD Movement Mid-Term Community Assessment Review Tour on Sunday, November 10.
The event, the seventh in the series, was held in Odogbolu and designed as a platform for the Senator to connect with constituents, assess their welfare, and receive feedback on his legislative work. The tour drew significant attendance from across the Ogun East senatorial district.
Addressing the gathering, Comrade Adelola Hezekiah Babatunde, General Secretary of NANS Ogun State, praised Senator Daniel’s enduring commitment to education and human capital development, particularly highlighting his achievements during his tenure as Governor of Ogun State from 2003 to 2011.
“Senator Daniel’s administration was fundamentally transformative, laying concrete foundations for the intellectual and technological advancement of our state,” stated Comrade Babatunde. “He understood that the greatest empowerment you can give to the youth is not temporary relief, but permanent structures of learning and skill acquisition.”
The student leader detailed the educational institutions established under Daniel’s governorship, crediting them with expanding access to higher education and technical training for Ogun State residents.
Key achievements highlighted included the upgrading of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, to Nigeria’s first specialised University of Education; the establishment of Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic (AAP) in Ijebu-Igbo; the founding of Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH) with campuses in Igbesa and Saapade; and significant infrastructural development at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY).
Babatunde also recognised the foresight in creating specialised vocational institutes, including the Petro-gas Institute in Oni, Ogun Waterside, designed to equip youth with industry-specific skills aligned with economic opportunities in the state.
The NANS Secretary acknowledged Senator Daniel’s current legislative efforts, specifically referencing his sponsorship of a bill to establish the Federal College of Aviation and Aeronautical Technology in Remo, Ogun State. “This is a testament to his consistent vision, creating centers of excellence that place Ogun State at the pinnacle of specialised education in Nigeria,” he noted.
The student body’s commendation reflects appreciation for Senator Daniel’s continued focus on education and youth development, both during his time as governor and in his current role as Senator representing Ogun East.
The mid-term assessment tour continues across the senatorial district, providing opportunities for direct engagement between the Senator and his constituents on matters affecting their communities.
