The Rotary Club of Ikoyi Metro will unveil a major healthcare project on Saturday, January 24, 2026, commissioning the complete renovation and equipping of two wards at General Hospital Odan, Lagos, in an initiative worth over N100 million.
Under the leadership of Rotarian Engr Alexander Chukwu, PMP, FNSE, FNIEEE, the club’s United President for the 2025-2026 service year, the intervention represents one of the most substantial healthcare contributions the organization has made in recent times.
The comprehensive upgrade includes replacing deteriorating windows in wards F1 and F2 with modern aluminium frames, repainting exterior walls, and enhancing the overall safety and appearance of wards C1 and C2. The improvements are designed to create a more comfortable environment for patients while supporting medical staff in delivering quality care.
Beyond structural renovations, the club is providing essential medical equipment, including wheelchairs and crutches, along with critical infrastructure such as water storage tanks, a tank stand, and a water treatment system to ensure consistent access to clean water throughout the facility.
Chukwu explained that the project addresses pressing needs in healthcare infrastructure, creating better conditions for both patients receiving treatment and healthcare workers providing services. He emphasized that the substantial investment demonstrates the club’s dedication to supporting public health facilities through meaningful, long-lasting community initiatives.
The commissioning event will bring together healthcare professionals, community stakeholders, and Rotary members, showcasing the organization’s focus on collaborative solutions to healthcare challenges.
This landmark project highlights the Rotary Club of Ikoyi Metro’s commitment to sustainable development and improved healthcare access throughout Lagos State during its current service year.
