Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has extended warm felicitations to Christians and Muslims across the state and the country as they simultaneously embark on the Lenten and Ramadan fasting seasons, describing the rare convergence of the two religious observances as divinely orchestrated.
The Governor, speaking through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, called on adherents of both faiths to channel the spiritual energy of the fasting period into fervent prayers for peace, unity and the overall wellbeing of Nigeria.
Sanwo-Olu described the twin seasons as profoundly significant, noting that both traditions share core values of self-discipline, devotion and surrender to God’s will. He expressed his conviction that the uncommon occurrence of Lent and Ramadan beginning on the same day carries a deeper divine message for Nigeria and the world.
“I believe strongly that the start of these two major religions’ activities on the same day is not a mere coincidence but God’s design for our nation and the entire world for peace and stability,” he said.
The Governor urged Lagosians and Nigerians to harness the solemnity of the season to pray against evil and misfortune, while also appealing to citizens to embrace tolerance, kindness and mutual respect in their daily interactions.
He further called on the faithful to sustain prayers for the continued peace and stability of Lagos and Nigeria, stressing that collective supplication and good conduct remain powerful tools for national healing and progress.
