A public display of jubilation by All Progressives Congress (APC) members in Sagamu, following the controversial suspension of Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD), has been revealed as a carefully orchestrated plan directed by the Ogun State Government, according to participants.
An investigation into the event shows that the celebration was not a spontaneous reaction from local party faithful but a stage-managed publicity stunt. Women who took part in the rallies confessed they were coerced and paid to create a false narrative that the suspension was popular among constituents.
Speaking under condition of anonymity, one participant stated, “The order to jubilate came from the State Government in Abeokuta, and we cannot do otherwise. He who pays the piper dictates the tune. We were reluctant, but they sent officials to ensure we conformed.”
Another woman, identified as a party stalwart, revealed further details of the botched plan, explaining that many participants were not even from Sagamu but were brought in from the state capital.
“We were instructed to rent bands, take to the streets, and hold rallies of jubilation. However, we used our discretion to scale down the event from what was originally planned,” she said.
Following the demonstration, the participants confirmed they were “handsomely rewarded” for performing what was described to them as an “excellent job.”
Beyond the staged event, the women expressed deep distress over the ongoing political feud between Governor Dapo Abiodun and Senator Daniel. They appealed to the national leadership of the APC to intervene, alleging that the conflict is crippling party activities and development efforts across the Ogun East Senatorial District.
