On Friday, the Nigeria Customs Service, Tincan Island Chapter, said it seized a total of 11 rifles and six pump action guns from January to date.
The Customs Area Controller in charge of the command, Dera Nnadi, who disclosed this while addressing journalists, said that the seizures were a product of collaboration with sister agencies, including the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.
“These were all seized from some containers. On the whole, the total number of rifles were 11 and pistols six,” he said.
Nandi added that in recent times, the command also seized psychotropic substances.
“Permit me to also mention that in addition to this, the command in recent times had also made yet another seizure of psychotropic substances imported into the country which was intercepted through the collaboration with NDLEA,” he said.
Speaking on the command’s revenue in the last two months, he said, “For the first two months and 14 days of this year, the command has been able to generate N240bn. As you can recall, our revenue target monthly is N94bn and what this means is that we have been able to surpass our expected revenue target for two months.”
