President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Iyalode of Remoland, Chief Sade Ogunbiyi, as she marks her 80th birthday on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
Chief Ogunbiyi, wife of respected academic, journalist, and entrepreneur, Dr. Yemi Ogunbiyi, was celebrated in a statement issued on Friday, June 5, 2026, by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
President Tinubu commended her outstanding contributions to Nigeria and the international community, particularly in the fields of education, administration, banking, and community service, describing her life as one marked by discipline, dedication, and continuous personal growth.
He noted that Ogunbiyi’s career journey reflects a strong academic foundation in English Language and Educational Administration, which later expanded into teaching, university administration, and the banking sector.
According to the President, she taught English and Social Studies at several institutions, including Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State; Lane Middle School in Bedford, New York, United States; and the United Nations International School in New York.
Tinubu also highlighted her decade-long service at the then University of Ile-Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), where she worked as Chief Personnel and Administrative Officer across various faculties.
He further recalled her banking career at NAL Merchant Bank in Lagos, where she rose to the position of Senior Manager before retiring in 1996 as Human Resources Manager. She later served as Deputy Managing Director at Signal Health Nigeria Limited, a pharmaceutical company, between 1996 and 2001.
The President praised her ability to combine professional excellence with family responsibility, describing her as a woman whose life reflects quiet achievement and public service.
He also noted her role as Iyalode of Remoland, a position in which she succeeded the late Chief HID Awolowo, wife of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, adding that she belongs to a distinguished lineage of female traditional leaders.
Tinubu said her life demonstrates resilience and continuous self-development, even while maintaining strong family and community commitments.
He wished her good health, long life, and continued fulfillment as she celebrates the milestone with her family, friends, and well-wishers, praying that she continues to enjoy peace, strength, and happiness in the years ahead.
