President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has engaged leading global investors in Paris, Paris, where he outlined his administration’s economic reform agenda and commitment to transparency and fiscal discipline.

The meeting, disclosed in a statement by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, brought together major international investment firms, including Citibank and Amundi, led by Valérie Baudson. Other participants included BlueCrest, Ninety One, Kirkoswald Capital, Principal Finisterre, Prudential Global Investment Management (PGIM), and Mesarete Capital.

During the engagement, Tinubu explained that his administration’s reforms are aimed at eliminating economic distortions, stabilising macroeconomic conditions, and laying a foundation for inclusive and sustainable growth. He noted that the government remains focused on strengthening policy consistency, improving transparency—particularly in the oil sector—and enhancing national security through measures such as decentralising policing and curbing terrorist financing.

“The focus remains on policy stability and diligent execution to ensure these strategic shifts translate into real benefits for Nigerians,” the president said.

Some investors commended the government’s reform efforts and expressed optimism about Nigeria’s economic outlook. In response to a question about his plans beyond 2027, Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to fiscal discipline, transparency, and consistent policy direction.

Also speaking at the meeting, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, highlighted Nigeria’s economic performance, noting that the country recorded a GDP growth of 11.2 percent in dollar terms in 2025. He said this progress supports Nigeria’s ambition of becoming a $1 trillion economy by 2030.

Edun added that the government’s immediate priority is to ensure that ongoing reforms deliver tangible benefits for citizens, while also pledging regular publication of quarterly financial data.

Meanwhile, Director-General of the Debt Management Office, Patience Oniha, assured investors of the government’s prudent borrowing strategy and commitment to sustainable debt management.
