Weatherby has officially launched the 25 WBY RPM, a bold new entry in its acclaimed Rebated Precision Magnum (RPM) family, designed to reshape expectations for modern .25-calibre performance. The 25 WBY RPM is engineered to deliver magnum-class velocity and ballistic efficiency while accommodating today’s high-ballistic-coefficient bullets, all without the bulk of traditional magnum cartridges.
Building on the success of Weatherby’s RPM platform, the 25 WBY RPM uses a refined case design with a rebated rim, minimal body taper, and a steep 35-degree shoulder, all aimed at maximising case capacity and consistency. Its fast 1:7.5 twist rate allows shooters to stabilise heavier, sleek projectiles that many legacy .25-calibre rounds struggle to manage, translating into flatter trajectories and stronger downrange performance.
Weatherby says the cartridge is capable of driving a 133-grain Berger bullet at about 3,000 feet per second, giving hunters and long-range shooters a noticeable ballistic edge over popular alternatives like the .25-06, .257 Roberts, and 25 Creedmoor. Designed around the Mark V six-lug action, the 25 WBY RPM fits in lightweight rifles without sacrificing the velocity and energy enthusiasts expect from a magnum-style round.
In addition to offering outstanding external ballistics, the 25 WBY RPM is intended to provide shooters with increased flexibility: from flatter trajectories and higher retained energy to more manageable recoil when compared with larger magnum cartridges. The introduction of this cartridge marks another step in Weatherby’s long history of innovation in ammunition design and performance.
